Etchings
During more hours of clearing out, I found some of Susan's sketches that she did while we were visiting my folks in 2003. Here is a portrait of my dad, age 81 and the other is our old house which we loved very much. So much has happened and changed in the last 10 years...and trying to sort it all out has been a bit of an emotional journey. I'm very impressed at the likeness to dad and to our old house!
It is hard to decide what stays and what goes. It is horrific to realise how much paper has been accrued and the extent of shredding that needs to be done! You can only imagine what 10 years of bank statements, household bills, car bills and general paperwork looks like. I have 4 lever arch files full!!
...and then there are my thousands of photos - on paper. For some reason I went through a (long) phase of duplicating the developed photos! I have given hundreds away over the years, but have stacks left. I have sorted them and have a laundry basket of rejects and have sorted the rest into labelled brown envelopes.
The next job is to tackle all of Susan's old school books, art work and projects that she is very proud of. That will take me such a long time to get through - there is so much to read and to remember! Happy days...but I can't keep it all!
