Moles for sale

Great walk today in variable weather. Most of the day was fine, but the north easterly wind was quite challenging as we climbed on the moors above Allendale to the 2 chimneys. The rain came much later and we were soaked by the time we returned to our cars.

The local pub welcomes walkers with muddy boots. As I dripped my way in, a local asked me "have you been walking?" It's tempting them to say something like "no I've been figure skating..........." but he was only being friendly and the roaring fire was just what we needed.

We saw this sign as the public footpath entered someone's garden.

The plant is the golden leaved saxifrage which was growing in profusion today.

Only 2 days until the Festival (or as Molly the gorgeous collie would say "only 3 sleeps" to go!)
