Wonders from Aspiran

Aspiran is a village in the département de l'Hérault (Languedoc).

We have good friends who drove us back from Aspiran (see November 11 for departure and 13 November for arrival) when our car was written off in November. The incident is described in my Blipfoto entry for 4 November and subsequent days,

Our friends have been back in their little village since February, and today were making their way back to Manchester to their "real" home. En route they are staying with us for a couple of days, and have brought us wonderful local produce.

In my photograph, you see Marc de Muscat at the rear, and Oignons Doux de Lezignan, Asparagus, new Garlic, and Lucques (a special cultivar of olive). In the tins is Brandade de Morue.

We are just now setting up a fine meal. Not only is there the asparagus to start with, but our friends picked up some delicious little crevettes grises in Calais before their ferry crossing this morning. Then we shall have spaghetti with ... BISON ragù. (But the bison comes from Wiltshire, and was brought by our daughter when she visited last Saturday.)

Lent is clearly properly over!
