Out for Lunch
Continuing our (what is fast becoming a) family tradition of combining walks with big bird spotting, we visited the peregrine falcon viewing near New Lanark on the Clyde Valley today.
Disappointingly the mother falcon, who has recently hatched two chicks, was sitting tightly on them and the remaining egg and was half camouflaged behind the plants growing out of the rock face. We could just make her out through the telescope (which the kind SWT volunteer graciously put it back into focus every time my little one had a look and twisted it's viewing position completely) but the father falcon was out hunting for food and nowhere to be seen.
The walk itself was lovely and provided ample entertainment for all, with just a little of the "yikes these kids really are running far too haphazardly when so close to such a steep drop" fear factor thrown in for good measure.
