Hope Springs Eternal
This could equally have been called "Long shot" or "Ambitious"
Something of a slow news day.
Adam has suffered a slight loss of hearing this week, which is not good just before a French GCSE listening exam! Anyway the doctor directed us to a walk in centre where he could get it syringed and he's as good as new.
Meanwhile I had a consultation about a small hernia. He's going to repair it at some point, but I had to tell him I don't want it to interfere with my carrying the torch, or The Olympics if possible. And he agreed with me so that's all good. I've just thought, however: it may put me out of the only marathon I planned to actually do this year. But one bridge at a time.
So that was this morning before 9.30. The rest of the day has been very quiet. I needed it after the late night last night. So it's just been a day of pottering around at home and enjoying the sunshine.
I went for a walk this afternoon with the sole intention of getting a blip. This caused me some amusement. Back in July 2010 a number of headstones in the Churchyard were identified as being loose and therefore a danger. A notice was displayed on each one that read
"This headstone has become loose. Please contact the stonemason who erected it to have it made secure. If it is not repaired within 6 months of this notice, we will have to lay it flat for safety reasons."
This particular stone has been here since 1867. Getting "the original stonemason" is a very long shot indeed, but Hope Springs Eternal!
Have a good weekend
