Matterhorn
I decided to make my last weekend in Switzerland before Christmas a memorable one. Today I travelled by train to the southern end of the country, to Zermatt, home to the infamous perfectly triangular Matterhorn. I took the cogwheel train up to the Gornergrat peak at 3100 m where I had some stunning views of the Alps. The silence up there was deafening, the air so clean, the sky so bright. A wonderful experience.
Day 13: Creation reflects its glorious Maker. As perfect as the Matterhorn peak may appear though, it is part of a broken world. He who weighed the dust of all of these mountains and determined their heights had a plan from before creation to redeem his rebellious children. He wanted then to know him and love him and be able to enjoy the world he made for them to its fullest. He made this possible through Christ dying on the cross in our place for our sin. The Matterhorn is a pretty big mountain but we have an even bigger Saviour!
