But oh it has been fun. One more day off for me and the kids but a lot of sorting, house jobs and even a smattering of homework to be done, not to mention the taking down of Christmas. And for Carlos the first day in his new job. So today pretty much marks a stop in festivities.

Not that there wasn't fun to be had with a splendid roast lamb dinner and a game of Hearts with added entertainment from J as Frogman the DJ.

And an afternoon watching The Railway Children with Anna under the blankets on the sofa. A few years ago we saw the live production with an actual steam train so Anna found her flag from that to wave at the appropriate moment. I'd forgotten quite what an excellent film it is.

And in a final retro comfort TV moment we are taking Sunday evening solace by revisiting David Suchet's Poirot.
