Gone Fishing

As the weather was quite Spring-like, we decided on a leisurely walk in our old stamping ground of Rivelin Valley today - the main objective was to see if we could find any Kingfishers. As you can see we were successful. We think there were 2 different ones. This one looked quite thin and we wondered if she had suffered in the cold snap last week. Before she flew off downstream she dived into the river - we couldn't tell, but we hoped she had managed to catch a fish.
There were lots of birds enjoying the conditions, including Nuthatch, Treecreeper and yet more Dippers
