Diary of an Edinburgher

New lamp base

The stump of wood has taken up a lot of my time and energy this week, so here it is, in all its glory - under the lamp base (bottom right). It fits perfectly, is the right shape and height. The lamp used to hang several inches lower, and so if there was a tall person on the opposite side of the table, they'd be obscured from the eyebrows up. I am well chuffed with it.

The painting we have had for more than 30 years. I can still remember seeing it at a preview exhibition, falling in love with it, putting it on hold while we rushed home to measure up to see if it would fit in our wee cottage. It made it - just. It took up the whole wall height - the bottom of the painting was almost at the floor!

Archie's toy box is also there. It's only full like this when I put them all back in, several times a day, as he takes them out and leaves them around the house. You can also see his 'out of commission' doggie door... :-(

Popped down to see Uncle A and his new toy - an iPad Air. Archie seems to find stairs fun. Barks and yelps the whole way down two flights.

Must pop off and book the desired excursions on the upcoming (Relative) Luxury Trip. Did I mention we have a personal butler? And a bottomless mini-bar.
