Big Bus Paris
Today we went with our friends Nine and Didier from Rennes, first to the Grand Palais, where the line to see the exhibition of Niki de Saint Phalle was too long for us.
So we crossed the wide street to the Petit Palais, where we had an excellent visit, including a good meal in their café. There was a temporary exhibition of their French Art Nouveau ceramics from the early 1900s--vivid and striking, with a wide range of subjects and sizes. After that we wandered through the permanent collection; it's relatively small and is nothing close to the Louvre, but particularly the 19th century French and 17th century Dutch paintings, which we'd seen before, impressed us again with their quality. And it was entirely uncrowded, even in the middle of Sunday afternoon.
I took this image waiting for our bus at the end of the afternoon, looking north--the end of the Petit Palais is at the right.
