Along the Thames

We were led to believe this was a house in which Sir Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame) lived. A quick search of the net showed he did indeed live around these parts but images of his house do not look like this one here. Not that it matters, it looks kind of spooky in the fading light of a winter's afternoon.

We had just had the most enormous lunch at the local golf club courtesy of my cousin George and his wife Jo and were walking it off along the banks of the Thames around Desborough Island. The light was flat and it was getting dark so I was in urgent need of a blip. I was interested in the name of the barge in the foreground - Sabrina - as that is the original celtic name of the River Severn, so she's a bit of an interloper on the Thames.

This was the first time we've been to see George and Jo and the first occasion when we've had a proper conversation but our mothers were sisters and we share the same grandfather so we have a common bond. We had a most enjoyable day with them and are looking forward to repaying their hospitality soon.
