There's a lizard and a big truck!!! Lets go.
You know when you have moments of ‘ well I never thought I’d say that?’ that was tonight when I shouted the above (title) to Andre as I ran with my child out the door- I’ll explain in a moment I’ll just digress a bit first.
I had a moment yesterday when I said to Harper ‘I don’t want to have a light saber in my face while I feed you’ he was holding onto a toy light up light saber but desperately needed milk- I didn’t feel the need to be smacked in the face.
As a mum though (I’m talking all mums everywhere) saying things that you never thought you would becomes a daily occurrence that you sort of don’t notice anymore I guess
I’m sitting here meant to be doing housework. My landlord is coming in the morning – not for an inspection or anything but to talk to the workmen guys and sign off on the work but I sort of feel the need to have it tidy you know? Except now here’s the problem: I can’t be bothered/am too tired/I don’t really care- all of those reasons.
So the workmen came this morning and within 10 minutes of being here had smashed up heaps of my courtyard, luckily they didn’t use a jack hammer just good ol’ elbow grease, a very large crowbar thing and a sledgehammer.
By lunch they’d lifted up most of the concrete and were smoothing out gravel to compact down only they couldn’t do anymore after the gravel because of my heat pump, they need an electrician/heat pump specialist person to come tomorrow and move it, they said once he does that they can pour concrete and they should be done by Friday!!!
The boys were fascinated most of the day watching the men work outside- it was noisy, dusty and there were machines!!
This I snapped of them watching one of the men use a concrete cutter to shape around the step with smoke billowing out behind.
By the time the workmen left we were all a bit cabin feverish. We’d been inside all day, with the window shut but just as I thought hey we can go out! Harper had a really big nap and the boys started watching sesame st so didn’t want to go anywhere.
I popped to the shop tonight; while i was there a man came in and had a lizard, a blue tongued one, just sitting on him. He let a few of the customers hold it so I dashed home to get Mar and went back, alas the lizard and his human had gone!
Though it wasn’t a total loss as they are putting new road down and all manner of machines were driving down the road; a massive asphalt truck, 2 rollers (who I might add does a better 3 point turn than any car I have seen) and a large tractor with a street sweeper brush. Mar was giddy with excitement over these machines. I could picture how it must have been like -in slow motion, all in a line coming down the road.
That reminds me I need to go google a truck we saw yesterday…
