Day and night, Night and day.

We had an interesting night last night

It all started with Harper having a very late in the day and long nap meaning he was up until 1030, he finally dropped off but as I was putting him to bed we discovered mar was still up too!! Its really unusual for him to be up so late. He said to us he couldn’t sleep, we seemed to think he was overtired and just couldn’t fall asleep, he finally did though around 11.

At 1 am our fire alarm went off, Andre leapt out of bed faster than I have ever seen and me? I couldn’t understand what was happening. The connection wasn’t there, it was like 2 turtles walking towards each other it took a wee while When I finally got what was happening- the sudden leap + noise I got out of bed too( probably could do with some faster reflexes there)  There was no fire, no smoke, nothing at all.

We turned it off, searched around for anything at all that could have set it off, it uses a battery but is also connected to our mains power so flat battery wouldn’t have done it.

We went back to bed totally confused and a little on edge, it was me who then couldn’t sleep, and thoughts ran through my head- what if we missed something? What if the connection is faulty? What if it was a spider that set off our fire alarm as a distress call? Or even one of Mar’s toys setting it off as a distraction for some other plan? I may have partly dreamt that last two (and watched too much toy story)...
This morning bright and early around 6 André’s phone went off, he hadn’t turned the sound down and his notification sound is of a guy like from some Rambo- terminator type movie saying something heavy and in a deep husky voice, I awoke- eyes wide open thinking there was someone in my house. I lay there, thinking ‘should i get up? No! I should get André up’ so I elbowed him and said ‘there’s a guy in our house I just heard him talk you need to get up!!’ He replied, ‘that was my phone, sorry’

He then was awake and said he woke every hour during the night looking at the clock. We dragged ourselves out of bed to feed the kids, Harper slept on.
The workmen arrived around 7, turned on a compactor and went to work; we had the windows open so the noise was even worse and frightening for Harper.

Not long after André left for work I made a bit of a parenting fail. I had asked mar to pick up the pegs that Harper had thrown far and wide from under the table. When he did so I thanked him to which he replied ‘no problem fat mum’ I turned to him asking him to repeat what he has just said, he again replied ‘no problem fat mum’
I told him off about how we don’t label people and it’s not nice to say things like that. He was very apologetic seeing the upset in my face. I then thanked him again for picking up the pegs anyway, he replied ‘no problem wif fat mum’ UGHHHHHHHHHH how could I be so stupid? And not think about what he was saying. He still has a bit of trouble with speech and can’t pronounce ‘th’ it comes out as ‘f’ sound, I hadn’t heard him say ‘wif’ when he was speaking before so only heard ‘fat’. He was saying ‘no problem with that mum’

Mum had Kanye for the day, Mar was going to go too but when I said I was taking a walk with harper in to town he decided to stay with me asking if he could get a new toy (little die cast metal machine) and could he buy one for his pop too? Whose birthday it was today.

How could I refuse?

We stopped by André’s work and bought him a coffee then continued on into town, we went to ballantynes and he found his pop a Jcb tractor, when I paid for it he said ‘it’s for pops birthday we need to wrap it up’ so the lady who served us, smiled and did so for him, not sure if she’s wrapped a tractor toy before but hey it made Mars day, she added a blue bow on top – mar beamed.

He carried all the way back to André’s work where we met for lunch, Mar showed everyone along the way- my mama in law at work, the people waiting to cross the road, the waitress at the restaurant we went to for lunch.

While we at hachi hachi having lunch Dan carter came in, this must be a spot rugby players enjoy – last time I was here there were a few all blacks in having lunch.

On our way home from lunch Mar kept asking if pop was home and could we take the present to him, I said he was at work to which he replied ‘ oh no he’s lost at work, he needs help, we need to rescue pop from work’

After André finished we went over to give the present to pop Mar was more excited than at Christmas saying ‘pop will be delighted with his present and we can play together’, only he wasn’t home yet  so we left it and went back home, Kanye was upset- mar then was too that he couldn’t hand the gift to pop.

We bought pizza on the way home and that cheered mar up a bit. Put the babes to bed early in hopes I would get an early night only I stayed up watching grand designs. I’m going to be tired forever at this rate!
