Practise

A nice, steady day today. We got up relatively slowly, lots of morning snuggles, a little ipad time. We spent some time doing some writing together. We headed to church, where she was very thrilled to see her cousins. She sat in Sunday school picking her lip, it seems. Thankfully, she didn’t make it bleed and it does actually look a lot better. “I didn’t like it feeling scratchy, mama” she said. We went home and made a quick lunch before getting her changed. She was super excited to get into her ballet stuff, including her new warm up. She was also very proud to carry her own little CD player to the car, like the big girls do.

We were booked for some studio time to practise her solo. On the way, she told me a fabulous story about a snake that slithers all round, then gets chased by a tiger so slithers up to the tree. She told me she’s going to write it down. She had a wonderful time dancing and did really well – I loved seeing how her confidence in it has improved just since she first got this solo before the last competition. Today, she did it front of a number of different people, confident and happy. She even carried on when two doggies decided to come and dance it with her. Her little friend came in later on and Katie helped her with her solo. They both learnt some new steps and their teacher decided they will soon start work on a duet for the next competition. They are extremely pleased!

We came home to a sofa-tea, a bit of Top Gear and more snuggles. She sat and read to me from her book about caring for pet rabbits. It’s from the library. I was making her milk before reading and I could hear her crying. “Mama, I don’t ever want to take this book back. Look how beautiful that rabbit is. And its got rabbits just like ours”.
