Breakfast of champions

This is a large part of how Katie is so productive in a morning - she wakes up and immediately eats a spectacular breakfast. She had homemade pancakes, raisins and a big yogurt this morning, with a cup of tea. She then danced for an hour and did a bit of clarinet before piano. We walked to school, where she was looking forward to telling her teacher that she'd played the music that was in her school reading book.

She's come out of school very chatty today. It was her turn to do "Really Wild Club" today - they made a bird feeder with an apple and seeds and watched birds. She said they counted 16 seagulls, but I kind of doubt that, seeing as we don't live by the sea.... She was quite excited as her teacher liked that she'd played the music and gave her 2 marbles for it, plus she got a marble "for being the only one to say thank you for some paper". She also liked that she's got a new comprehension homework folder that came with a text & question sheet (though it only took her 10 minutes, still it engaged her at least) and some books that are finally further on than the garbage they've been sending home. She said they've done computers today and were using google to learn facts about Spain. She has this absolute love of google... I think it might be the word, but also she likes that its just access to anything she wants to know. She did then say she wished she could invite google to her birthday. Apparently, lunch was also "DELICIOUS!!!"

I was saying to a friend today that despite Katie working incredibly hard out of school at the moment, it's actually having a really positive effect. I feared we'd have crabby, grumpy tiredness with the amount of hours she's putting in for both dance and music, but it's the opposite. She's feeling fulfilled and happy with whats happening out of school and consequently is happier about school. I love it. If only I could sustain the 4 sessions a week at dance and the 2+ hours a day of home practise between that and music!

We went for a babyccino after school and have stopped home briefly for her to change for Rainbows - I'm helping again. Polar bears and how they keep warm/camouflage is tonight's topic. Then I think it will be an early night for the miss as she had a bad night's sleep last night.
