DAY 4 IN ZIM - SCHOOL & RURAL VISITS

HOORAY INTERNET....Git over excited had to re publish so lost comments ;(
Decided the illness might have been the malaria tablets so stopped taking them as we are not in a Malaria area.
Went to visit St Martins School in Kwekwe at 9:00....school started at 7:30!!!!
Some of the children walk for an hour to get there!!
We had a fascinating tour of the classrooms and handed out the books and craft gifts..LINK..we had bought over from my school. I did a story in one class and q&a in the upper classes, although they all looked quite wary of the white faced visitors.
Afterwards the head teacher had organised a fabulous dinner for us and all the staff..we were both called onto say a few words.
Then we drove for an hour mainly over roads dirt tracks....and fields avoiding rocks and ravines to 2 rural churches and vicarage under construction thanks to some funds from Croydon diocese. There is a school with nearly 2000 pupils. They have no electricity or running water in the area and yet they are really happy community all working together...making bricks from the earth etc to build the church.

HAPPY....to share tea and cake(cooked over an open fire) with the newly married priest, his wife and the church's Mothers Union

PS WE DECIDED MALARIA WAS WORSE THAN THE HEADACHE SO STARTED TAKING THE TABLETS AGAIN.
