Excellent day

Today has been excellent. Katie's had a brilliant time. She slept in as she was late to bed but was happy when I woke her & in time for breakfast with the girls. We got ready (K in dancing stuff, again) to go to the studio. I had portraits to do of the ballerinas. Katie joined in for some of them. I had photos to do of their repertoire work and she sat watching it so good. Her friend arrived as we were arranging the girls into a circle of dying swans and Katie & her decided to copy on stage. They wanted tutus on as well, so spent the day in gorgeous fairy tutus. Come lunch time, the turn board was out and Katie did her first double! She had a lot of fun with it. They did some colouring during the afternoon ballet class before they had a giggle with the modern class - a lighthearted end to the afternoon. Lots of leaps, lots of showing off, lots of fun, lots of every single person having some fun. Yes, even mama and the principal joined in the cartwheeling this afternoon. Katie and her wee friend have definitely found their confidence with the girls and had a fantastic time having their turn doing jumps and being lifted. Then one time when they reached the front of the line, they both looked at each other, whispered, then as it reached their "5,6,7,8" they both dropped to their knees - in their tutus- and crawled across the room. Well, the whole room collapsed into laughter. 

At the end of class, 22 of us went out for dinner. We pretty much filled the small Italian restaurant. Katie devoured her spaghetti bolognese, declared herself still hungry and did the same to her ice cream. If it had just been us too, she'd have gone to sleep on the way back I suspect. Instead, she was absolutely bouncing in the car on the way home, playing games with the girls. They had a play when we got home and she watched a movie that we discovered she and one of the students both love. It's been another late night, but she's had so much fun and the girls leave tomorrow, so I couldn't bring myself to drag her to bed! There's plenty of time for early nights before school still. And plenty to tell her school friends about - she's had an amazing time!!
