Over the back of Mont d'Arbois

First time skiing in two years today & 48weeks 2 days since the knee op. I opted to join C's lesson group for the morning to ease myself back in - hoping I might pick up some technique tips to protect the knee - or at least get to practise my mountain French. But a disinterested instructor with too large a group wasn't conducive to that - but did make for a nice restful way to get to learn the basics of getting around the resort's lift system.
When the lesson finished I left C having a chocolat chaud and decided to have a quick ride up the cabin & find a more interesting, non piste based, way down (hey - there was 6" of fresh powder & I've not skied in Europe for years!). Popping out of some (sparse) trees on the west of Mont D'Arbois I saw the only other skier I encountered for most of the run down - not too shabby for a half term Sunday.
Knowing to quit when I'm ahead has been a hard learnt lesson this last year - so I grabbed my Blip & with (relatively) happy knees headed back to C in the buvet & then down for a late lunch in St Gervais square & catching up on some really lovely birthday messages (thanks blippers, FB'ers & all).
