Old quarry along Torver Beck, Coniston Fells
A deteriorating sort of day today. But a good start as we toiled up the Walna Scar road to its junction with Torver Beck. Great views of the Old Man of Coniston from the path. Almost impossible to capture owing to the vast contrast between snow, sky and darker foreground.
We followed the beck down through the village of the same name, eventually arriving on the shores of Coniston Water which we followed all the way back to Coniston village as the rain gradually increased in intensity. A good walk of almost 9 miles.
This evening Alan and Irene came over for dinner and an overnight stay. We're planning to go walking with them tomorrow.
