Its 1948 and Judy Garland is in town

At the Savoy cinema in Luton. Looks a bit more exciting than the multiplex cinema which led to its demise and the latest news is that this building is to become a church. Good news for the people that need a place to worship, but I can't help feeling that  this fine building could have served the wider community in other ways if only the council would invest in it. Too late for that now though it would seem.

Boys night last night. A very good value mix of tapas and pizza and yes, I drank two glasses of red wine and yes, it was good. Strangely I had no desire to drink beer. Not sure if that is a temporary thing. Only time will tell.

Time to pay homage to my offspring - it's been a while I think:

Rachel was interviewed for the role of assistant head teacher on Tuesday and got the job. She starts in September. The girl did good.
Matthew is off to the south of France in a little over a weeks time, right down on the Mediterranean coast to manage a large outdoor activity centre for the summer season. A step up for him as its a much larger centre than the one he has managed for the last 2 years. Shame the level of responsibility is not matched by the level of pay, but the experience makes it all worthwhile
Rosina - ran an events day at university as part of her final year and it all went swimmingly. Our loss in June will be Australia's gain
Luke -  is doing a fine impression of corporal Jones from dad's army as he panics at the prospect of becoming a first time father in just a couple of months time
