I have to use my outstanding leave from work by 31 March or lose it so I'm trying to take one or two days a week off - last Monday I spent the day cleaning the house so today I tried to have a proper day off. I did do a teeny weeny bit of emailing, the problem is that I have no back-up at work so if I do go away then I come back to find nothing has moved forward and about 500 emails glaring at me.

However I did go off into town in the sunshine and met old colleague Michael for a long and leisurely coffee and scones. This evening the boys and I had pizza and watched Pride. I was 17 (they are 16 and 18) in 1984 and I bored them silly explaining who Bronski Beat are, the Miner's Strike, gay pride, Margaret Thatcher, Billy Bragg, and exclaiming over 1980s telephones, clothing, and having to make calls from red phone boxes with a 2p. Strange to think that in my lifetime (which I hope is only about half over) how much has changed including the ability of gay couples to marry.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of Lucia's death and I'm taking her children off to scatter her ashes. It is going to be a lovely day and they've picked a spot she used to love so I hope it will give them some kind of closure so that they can move on with their lives and take with them the happy memories of their mum.
