Camping Trip
Saturday morning and the weather had cleared so the camping trip with C&M and M&J was going ahead. This meant a mad scramble to get the camping gear out and everything packed. We camped on the cliff top in Yuraygir National Park - M& J in their 24 ft van/mansion with shower, toilet and washing machine:) and C&M and us in our little dome tents. We had a great time, perfect weather although the night was a bit cold - about 9 degrees with quite a brisk breeze off the ocean. However we lit a big campfire and we had fabulous views - ocean in front and beautiful coastal scrub around the campsite. I also got to see my first ever Bandicoot - a small native marsupial which is nocturnal and lives in burrowes under low lying scrub. There are a few different types of Bandicoots but I think the one I saw was the long nosed Bandicoot. Very exciting to see one. We were sitting around the fire and I saw this little creature moving in the shadows - I had no idea what it was but M & C identified it as definately a Bandicoot. This view is taken when J and I went for a walk along the beach in the late afternoon. We couldn't see the sunset as the cliff behind was obscuring it but these were the lovely reflected colours in the east - straight from the camera. When we climbed back up the stairs to the top of the cliff the colours were even more amazing - I don't think I have ever seen such beautiful teal blues in the waves although I haven't been able to capture the full depth of colour this will give you an idea of what it was like.
View from top of cliff here
Ps - probably better in large.
