Lake Arragan

This lake is not far from where we camped for the weekend and some of us went down for a wander on Sunday afternoon. It's quite a popular spot for families as it isn't very deep in this area and further back along the banks there are many good spots for fishing and also for catching Mud Crabs. It is what is know as an Intermittently Open or Closed Lake. It opens into the Pacific Ocean when extremely high tides or very stormy seas erode the sand between the lake and the sea. As the sand builds up the lake gets cut off from the sea again.
When closed the 70 hectare lake becomes a large reach of water extending 3k's upstream. (Probably better in large).
