Not an Eclipse!
I really didn't expect to see it today but never the less, still in pyjamas looking like - well I don't know what but certainly not exactly a catch, shall we say a fine figure of a woman - I sat in the garden with cup of tea in hand looking at all the cloud and wishing I was still in bed. When suddenly just at the right moment a clear patch appeared in the sky, just enough to catch a glimpse two or three times of the eclipsed sun. Like a slice of fire. I couldn't stop staring. Anyway I thought the sun would be fur†her over to the right. Anyhow it turned out to be a glorious day topped off by a birthday bash (my nephew) this evening. A drive back at the foot of the Pennines was an incredible experience, a clear and beautiful starlit night. Not seen stars like that since long time ago in Cornwall. Just been sat on the front doorstep. No lights but an occasional look at the Planets App which gives you a moving 3D version of what you see in the sky. The brightest star tonight is Jupiter over in the West when I last looked. There is also a' Volans constellation' - my name but with one 'L' discovered by dutchman Volans. He seems to get everywhere. So why a picture of Yan - well she was in the garden just about the whole afternoon, looking like a handsome GSD. She has gone a lot greyer this last year but still the greatest dog ever.
