Lego Robotics at The Science Fair.
This week was Science week, so in addition to viewing the solar eclipse, we were booked in for some Science and Engineering at the local secondary school, who were hosting a Science Fair.
First on the agenda, was lego Robotics. Harry looked a bit doubtful on arrival, as there was not much lego in sight! But once on the assignment of programming and testing his robotic car, he was enthralled. We were against the clock, with only 30 minutes to complete the assignment of programming the robot to drive round the track.....and our final trial finished about 2/3 way round. Given another 10 minutes, we would have made it, but still, we were rather pleased with our effort.
Second activity of the day was laser cutting, as we designed and then engraved a glass. Harry took full control of this challenge - I might blip his glass tomorrow as it is just fab - and I was just the supportive bystander.
After that we browsed a few stalls, collected a few goodies - hydrogen balloon etc - and were back home in time for a late lunch and a snooze. Harry is already talking about next year and a repeat performance. So maybe a little engineer in the making. You will note I couldn't get him to look at the camera as he was trying to remember which of the robotic moves were not yet 100% perfect.
