The work started today on the new bathroom. This is all that's left of the old one....and they even managed to break the cistern lid as they refitted it for the night!!!

As you can see it was a tasteful maroon colour, the wooden seat came later. The bath was pink with a maroon surround, the basin was maroon and the walls were pink. For some strange reason the shower curtain was blue! I suppose it was the height of fashion when it was fitted (well before we bought the house) but now , even if we wanted to, we couldn't replace it in the same colour....all bathroom fittings these days are white....with maybe a bit of black if you're lucky.

I'm guessing the major work tomorrow will be taking out the old bathroom door and plasterboarding the hole then plastering and making good where the dividing wall has been taken down...... then they can get to work on the new tiles, floor to ceiling, and the new fittings.

I don't know how long it will take....they've quoted 10 working days...I've heard tales from 4 days to 14 days!

Shaving in the kitchen sink will be a novelty in the morning!
