First Cowslips
It was the first day of the new Butterfly Transect Recording season. Seeing the sun out this morning, I thought I might just manage to walk my transect today, even if there were no butterflies flying. However, on reaching the nature reserve it was clear that the temperature was not going to get above 9 degreesC (the minimum for transect walking is 13!). Nevertheless, I enjoyed a walk and found the first of this year's Cowslips in flower in a sheltered valley. I'm sure they've been seen elsewhere, but I was at about 800 feet above sea level, close to the highest point in the Chilterns.
