You can...

...take the girl from the sea, but you can't take the sea from the girl.

Katie only lived by the sea for 3 months of her "outside" life, but much of her "inside" 9months was spent in the sea. It's my happy place. And I think she feels it too. Because she just cannot help herself. Absolutely freezing cold April day (even by the North Sea standards) and she had to play. Hitching her skirt up like a Victorian bather, off she went. And out she ran again. But she had to go back in. And straight out again. Tried again. Splashed for longer. Repeat ad infinitum. She hurled herself into the sand to dry off. She tried rock skimming with our cousin. She failed and played "chuck the pebbles as far as you can". Happy Katie.

She had a wonderful time with my aunt before we went out. They spent a really happy hour doing all kinds of paper crafts. My aunt loves stencilling and printing and stuff, and loves to share it with the grandchildren/great niece.

To top off a wonderful afternoon, we had a nice tea with granny and grandad. Katie played in the bath for ages afterwards. Today was a last minute plan, made last night. But a very good one.

And since getting home, I have packed ready for our little holiday adventure!
