Statuary at the garden centre
Some hard graft today in the garden leavened by a trip to a couple of garden places, firstly here at Notcutts which is more like a supermaket for the garden and then to the Potted Garden which is a proper nursery where they are likely to have the plants you want. Of course, nowadays, no garden would be complete without a statue or two dotted amongst the dahlias.
And it was the case, Susan wanted a particular type of dogwood and yew, Notcutts didn't have them but the Potted Garden did.
Before that I took down the raspberry supports and dug out all the old raspberry canes before rolling loads of (some quite large) rocks to the back of the plot to provide space for a wildlife pond which is the next task on the list.
After lunch it was a case of taking the raspberries to the allotment and replanting them along with some rhubarb that I'd also dug up and 5 dwarf fruit trees; two apples, a pear, a plum and a cherry.
It's still quite cool down here so very little is growing on the allotment, except for the broad beans and garlic I put in last autumn. No sign of the shallots yet. The spuds should be in by now but it's just not been good enough. Perhaps next week.
