Changing Rooms

It's 8 pm and I've been decorating for 12 hours. Thought I was doing well when I had completed 3 walls in 8 hours but then came the feature wall. A lovely (and expensive) paper which has a 53cm pattern repeat but the option to ignor it and hang randomly. Easy, I thought. As soon as the second drop was finished I knew it was a mistake. It looked horrendous with the random hanging. So off came the second drop, put to one side and then started to work out the repeat.

As you might see from the wallpaper, it isn't an obvious repeat. Worse still the wall height was just beyond a multiple of the repeat length.

I will finish, if only to hide our attempts at rag rolling and sponging, a la the Changing Rooms TV programme of the 1990s.

How could I have ever liked that look?
