Holy Island

We  visited Bamburgh Castle (who knew Armstrong was responsible for so many inventions) and then crossed over the causeway to Holy Island at lunch time.  We visited the Priory ruins and set off for the castle.  Wrong again - the castle closed at 3 because of the tides.  Still, the walk around the island was good.  This boat has been turned into a hut which seemed both sad and practical.
We looked at a disused lime kiln, a coastline of pebble sculptures and then spotted a weasel hunting for eggs - much to the distress of the birds (pipits I think).  Actually I think he was a bit early but no doubt he will be back.  Then we sat on the sand hills for a while, had dinner and crossed back to the mainland at 9pm.   Staying over while the island was cut off was definitely the way to see it.
