Getting growing
The greenhouse is starting to look more lively; we now have plants.
Mr A and I went to the garden centre yesterday and bought lots of things to try and grow.
It was a learning experience too.
Firstly, the window that we thought had a broken hinge in the greenhouse, turns out to be fine; it opens itself when it gets warm in there. Clever eh?
Next we learned about veg. We found quite a few things we can grow in pots, rather than have grow bags all over the floor.
We debated over carrots and leeks, but a quick read of the label said they should be planted together, as the carrots deter leek moth and the leeks deter carrot moth!
So, we now have:
Chantenay carrots
Leeks
Garlic (donated by my boss)
Peas
Scotch bonnet chilli (I want some more exotic varieties too but that's all they had for now)
3 types of lettuce
Basil, mint and thyme herb garden (which I will add to later)
Strawberries
And finally, tomatoes, in cherry, plum and beef varieties.
We almost bought radish too, but noticed it was just radishes stuck in soil, so we are going to do the same with the ones we have in already.
I hope they all do well, it will be nice to have home grown food.
Watch this space :-)
