MK Rose
Our local branch of Brasserie Blanc e-mailed us this week to say they were re-opening after a refurbishment and offering free coffee and pastries every morning this week, and 50% off all food and drink. It seemed like an offer too good to miss so this morning we went for breakfast. Between us, we had two coffees, three pastries and one Full English Breakfast, all for the princely sum of £3.75! Pretty good value, if you ask me. The refurbishment is an improvement too, so we will be back for the regular menu soon.
We also had a walk around Campbell Park in Milton Keynes. This is part of the MK Rose, a series of columns in the geometric shape of a rose intended as a place of commemoration for the people of the city. Many of the columns are dedicated to notable days connected with the area, including this one for Jim Marshall, founder of Marshall Amplification whose amplifiers are used by all the best rock bands worldwide, and father of my erstwhile saxophone teacher!
If there is anyone who believes that Milton Keynes is just a mass of concrete buildings and concrete cows, hopefully I can convince you otherwise here.
