.....second Cup Final of the week......

Up at 6.00......on the road by 6.40.........heading for Edinburgh to watch our nephew in the BT Cup Final at Murrayfield.

Reached the Services approx 100 miles away  by 8.15.....stopped for breakfast........it was closed! I mean the building was open but all the food outlets were closed until 9.00!............we had to settle for a coffee and a chocolate bar from a small kiosk that was open.

Arrived in  at the Boss' brother's house in Edinburgh just after 11.00............coffee and cake.......then off to the match..the Boss and I grabbed a burger and a coke. The match was a gripper........Rory plays for Glasgow GHK at centre........it's a young side....and in the first half their older, bigger and more experienced opponents ran up a lead of 24-0..........mainly due to two intercepted passes leading to two tries.

At half time it looked pretty grim...but I was confident that the older, bigger (heavier) team would run out of steam before the youngsters did.The opponents went further ahead to 27-0..........then the tide turned......GHK ran in two converted  tries in quick succession...... 27-14....and then a third try...........27-19...........and with twenty minutes left I could only see one team winning........and then disaster struck...............a serious injury to one of the GHK team with 18 minutes left led to a 7 minute delay............and the opponents got the breather they needed..........plus a stiff talking to from the coach............and they hung on mainly due to spoiling tactics and kicking to touch for the win. The nephew was gutted...........but if they can keep that team together I'm sure thay will be back in the final again soon........and win it.

Back to the house for a sit in the sunshine in the garden..........with more coffee and cake.........and then we set off home at 5.30. We stopped at the same services, hoping for a meal, but had to settle for a burger and a fizzy drink............and then we pushed on home....getting back around 9.40.

So............a 422 mile round trip.....nine hours on the road...........just over 6 hours in Edinburgh.three of them walking to the match and watching it.......and the presentation of medals.....cakes, burgers, chocolate, fizzy drinks and coffee.......and I''m up at 6.00 tomorrow to go fishing..........this Carpe diem thing is knackering me!

Oh, by the way......GHK are in the blue and white in the photo.
