The things you see...

when you don't have a gun !
Have spent all afternoon at the SAC offices attempting to fill in my SAF (single application form). This is the form you have to fill in every year to be eligible for subsidy. You have to enter every single parcel of land that you farm, with the exact area of each field, the crop sown, including the 5% compulsory EFA (ecological focus area) which you can't touch for 6 months of the year. You must remember to exclude any ineligible areas ,and also make sure that your arable area includes 3 different types of crop. Also, the main arable crop must be no more than 75% of the total. AND, no 2 crops may make up more than 95% of the total. Then you have to tell them the break down of livestock on your holding on 1 March.
If you make any mistakes, you get penalty deductions in your payment and a fine.
So if you thought farming was just about producing food to feed the nation, think again.
And even if you don't agree with subsidy payments, I  know I couldn't survive without them and still produce quality food at a price the public could afford to pay.
Any way ,before my brain explodes, just time to say that I spotted these 4 huge metal hares at the entrance to a new housing development at Eskbank.
Thought they were good enough for a blip any way.
