Swanning around
I have chosen this shot of the male swan preening himself on the canal bank beside the modern housing development at Netherton. Diagonally opposite the female sits on her nest. This pair are extremely tame with not a jot of fear of people. However, they have yet to raise a brood successfully. I've heard it said the perch in this stretch of water are the culprits but perhaps this exposed site plays a part as foxes also inhabit the woods around here. See close-up of the female on her nest in Extra photos.
