Crab aple blossom

We've two apple trees in our garden, this crab and an old gnarled Worcester Permain. I'm assuming one pollinates the other as you have to have a certain type of apple tree nearby for successful pollination. That's why you see isolated different trees in orchards - trees where the apples are not picked.

It's been very windy here today, blown a panel out of the fence, one that has blown out before and is easy to put back. I'm waiting til the winds subside before putting it back. It was a bit of a challenge ensuring the blossom was still enough to take the shot.

I've tied a piece of string around this branch so that I can go back in the autumn to photograph the resulting fruit (if I remember) before it is picked to make something like Crab Apple and Vanilla Jelly - which is divine on panettone.

Went swimming, did a bit of work, some research for walks up in Richmond (North Yorkshire) where we're going next week with a group of walking friends for our annual get together. The evening walk was still accompanied by blustery winds, almost blowing away my cap on several occasions, but also produced some dramatic but fleeting sky and landscape vistas with low, bright sunshine on fresh green leaves against a dark sky with some blue and white.
