Lost?

This  seems to be a racing  pigeon. Is it lost? It's been in the garden all day and is quite tame. It has a ring on it's leg. It takes me back to when I 'were a lad'. I used to keep racing pigeons, so did my dad, but we didn't have a ferret and a flat cap.
