The Eyes of the Tiger
I am not a great fan of zoos.
I had not been to London Zoo since I was about 10 years old.
Tonight I went there on an original Routemaster Bus, with pole and platform entrance, that we used to run for as school kids much to the annoyance of the bus conductor who did his best to push us off his accelerating vehicle!
The work function that I am attending held its opening event with drinks in the Tiger Territory followed by dinner in the elegant Zoological Society of London pavilion in the zoo. (Great to meet up with Blipper N who was also attending this event.)
Earlier T and I had been enjoying the 70th Anniversary of VE Day events in St James Park. We had also been taking in the post General Election atmosphere at Westminster. Many of the residents of the media village that had been set up to report the comings and goings of a hung parliament were already packing up and going home.
My blip shows a Bengal tiger cub. I spoke with her keeper who told me that they always have a net between them and these remarkably powerful beasts. Because we were in the zoo after closing time, the tigers were much more active than they usually are when the crowds are milling through.
I really enjoyed the dinner. I still don't like zoos!
My three extra photos show the Household Cavalry stuck in traffic because their parade ground was closed to accommodate tonight's VE70 Concert, the Satire flying over The Scottish Office on Whitehall and the replica spitfire in St James Park.
