Butterfly Spotting

This afternoon I went on a butterfly walk led by the Shropshire Wildlife Trust's butterfly expert. The limestone habitat of the North Shropshire Hills has some rare butterflies that we aimed to see. I've seen them before but always enjoy a walk led by an expert! He netted a Pearl Bordered Fritillary (I took this photo two years ago) and put it in a container for us to see.

We also saw Grizzled Skippers (extra photo), Dingy Skippers and Green Hairstreak butterflies. Our expert also got very excited when he spotted what he thought was a Brown Argus which hadn't been seen there since the early 1990's. He netted it but it escaped through a hole!
