Diary of an Edinburgher

New regime

Well, Archie didn't mind sleeping in the hallway (in his bed) last night. JR declared that she did indeed feel better sans doggie - or, more likely, it was down to the new new puffer.

Poor Archie - sleeping in the hallway must be like being in a (silent) disco - the router lights flash constantly, and so does the plug-in mouse repellant.

He wasn't too pleased at not being allowed into the bedroom in the morning. He came in as soon as he heard the radio on, but I carried him out again and out him back to bed. This was how he learned that the alarm was his signal. No alarm - stay in bed.

He kept scratching the door when JR was in the shower. In fact, I got up to keep him company as soon as she left. He'll get used to not going in there, as we did many times today. I went in, shut the door, and did a bit of dusting, and he scratched the door. Poor wee fella. He did look puzzled.

Blood test was swift today, thank goodness, because shouty Jeremy Kyle* was on the waiting room TV. Actually, there seemed to be a real life Jeremy Kyle scenario taking place in the waiting room, but I couldn't quite hear all the dialogue. I did hear the wifie on the phone shouting at the other person that they had their 'heid up their a***'.

Felt well enough to take Archie on a slow walk round the block. He gets plenty of sniffing done with me now - I used to hurry him along.

JR was very late home (reports). Archie is on the alert for hours. When she did come home, he went crazy! He always goes fairly crazy when she comes home - mainly confined to charging up and down the hallway - but today he was charging round the whole house, jumping on all the furniture, up on her shoulders (she was on the sofa), crying - what a carry on! They've gone off for a run around the Links.

* In September 2007, Manchester Judge Alan Berg described The Jeremy Kyle Show as trash which existed to "titillate bored members of the public with nothing better to do". He went on to say: "It seems to me that the purpose of this show is to effect a morbid and depressing display of dysfunctional people whose lives are in turmoil. It is human bear-baiting".
