Diary of an Edinburgher

Milestone!

An epic day in the Life of Archie - he was not sick in the car on a two hour journey. He was harnessed to the seat belt thingie, and I sat in the back with him and held on to him. He was quite relaxed, snoozed, and looked around now and again and sighed. We stopped a few times too.

Before we set off this morning I went for a pre-op meeting at the hospital. Turns out it was a pre pre-op meeting. No date has been set yet. They took another pint of my blood and waved me off, assuring me they'd be in touch soon.

And so we set off a bit later than anticipated, but we weren't in a big rush. We arrived at our destination, Killin, and had a clamber over the flat rocks at the Falls of Dochart, then a wander through town, and on to check in at our hotel.

The Kiwis were already there, so we caught up with their news while we had a beer in the sun outside. Archie was needing a proper run by this time, so we drove to a place that the hotel receptionist told us about, and it was perfect. Down a wee road, over the river, past the cemetry, beside the loch. It was a wonderful dog walking area, so Archie and JR walked back along the woodland path - the loch was flat calm, the woods were full of bluebells, and we even saw a red squirrel. He had a great run around with another dog in a big field, so he was suitably tired out for an evening spent standing under our table in the bar while we had our dinner. Actually, he spent the whole time keeping a beady eye on a couple of customers opposite us. Didn't seem to put them off their meal. (NO Muzak!)

He's now on his hotel bed on the floor, happily snoozing until the alarm rings in the morning. No wifi. No phone signal. No worries!
