Ancient Epidavros Revisited
A lot warmer in Epidavros today. Yesterday, after the rains it was blowy and a cold 19 degrees. Today it was a small breeze with 25 by mid-day. This place is not just a pile of rubble in fields. There is some of that but the most amazing sight is the ancient theatre. Wonderfully preserved with superb views from the top seats over the countryside and mountains. The acoustics are superb too, and in the summer festivals are taking place here.
It's wonderful to just sit and watch what's going on, and soak up the atmosphere...- people would come and stand in the middle and perform a speech, in many languages. Some better than others!
Back to Nafplion for some more eating and frappe, shopping for a few gifts for the boys, then ice cream. A wander along the harbour to watch the big cruise ship leaving. We had been chatting to Greg, the Chief Petty Officer who had some great chat about the ship and himself.
Later, out for our final meal in the town, a wander and back to do some packing. Can't believe it's almost time to leave this picturesque town.
