Friday Night Kitchen
It was a long drive to Kent owing to a serious accident on M25 (air ambulance attended) but nothing could be done so I was patient and caught up on work emails and shopped online using my tablet while in the jam. Well why not!
On arriving in Whitstable I managed to forage out some gorgeous kiddie clothes and wellies for T+T (T2?) and invested in a really pretty framed felt picture for my house. Whitstable is a thriving and charming seaside town stuffed full of the best mix of tiny independent shops and eateries you could ask for. A great place for a mooch ad a chat with the various shop owners. I did my bit for promoting them by liking them on their Facebook pages.
I'm down here to visit C and to attend the Gathering 2015 in Canterbury Cathedral tonight and tomorrow www.the-gathering.co.uk C popped back briefly to change and then dashed off again to do her bit behind the scenes.
The Friday Night Kitchen (based on Saturday Kitchen) at the Gulbenkian Theatre in the University was a great success. Rev. Richard Coles hosted very well. Archbishop Justin, Bishop Trevor and Archbishop Ian from the Diocese of the Indian Ocean were in discussion, talking about food and the church. In the meantime, The Community Chefs and their apprentices prepared frittatas and soup. In the second half, two celebrated local chefs cooked up a storm. It was a great atmosphere and a clever event.
Tomorrow it'll be a day in the Cathedral watching Jesus Christ and I'm looking forward to that too...
