A very early surprise

This morning we awoke to a nice surprise  in the paddock this morning.  A full term calf.  Not what we wanted to see when we haven't even dried off our milking herd yet!

This wee calf's mum was one of our 2 year old heifers who had been grazing in Canterbury for the past year.  Obviously a bull got into the herd, and the rest is history.  There's one other cow that looks like it may calve soon, and hopefully that's the end of it.  Farmerboy was not impressed!
