Done and dusted
Well the Diamond Jubilee celebrations have come to an end. The crowds in The Mall today were incredible. Whatever you think of the monarchy, it has been quite spectacular in places. The end of that concert last night, the flotilla on the Thames, the choir looking like drowned rats (been there, done that, though not in quite the same way), the flypast today with the Lancaster Bomber which always sends shivers down my spine. Will we see the likes again? Who knows. And, of course, there's the Olympics to 'look forward to'. LOL
With the weather staying fine I decided to get on with a few jobs in the garden. Have actually planted some plants IN THE GROUND (as opposed to in containers) The Oriental Poppies are in full bloom at the moment. Unfortunately the wind and rain will probably make them even more short lived than usual.
Noticed that the bees were visiting them frequently. The pollen is, as you can see, a fantastic purple colour rather than yellow. You can just about see that the bee is covered in it and has a sack underneath. Sorry for the quality of the photo. The wind was blowing quite briskly by this point and the flight of the bee was not at all controlled!!
