Covering the silage

The team finished and covered the silage and then half an hour later it started to rain!  We have food for the cattle in the winter now!   Covering the silage with plastic sheets and old tyres is a hard job, the tyres are very heavy and dirty and there are at least a hundred of them lifted by the JCB  to the top of the clamp and then manhandled evenly over the plastic.

P our neighbour was telling T of the horrific time she has had with foxes recently mauling and killing newly born calves out in her fields.  T said he had watched a fox walking along the hedge in our calving field, I just hope they don't try and grab ours if we are not there to scare them off. The foxes have young at this time of year and stop at nothing to get food.

This evening N and I went to see Far from the Madding Crowd at Cineworld in Yeovil.  It was lovely seeing familiar views of Dorset, and the sheep in the film belong to someone in our village. Now seasoned actors they have appeared in several films including Doc Martin!  And a Yeovil choir sang and was mentioned in the credits so this was a very local film!  We were very lucky getting the last two seats even though we were half an hour early!
