This wee gem of a derelict church is set in beautiful wooded parklands near the village of Oldhamstocks. It was built in the 1440s by the lord of Dunglass, Sir Alexander Home. It was served by a small college of priests, comprising a provost, three chaplains and four choirboys.
The church had no wider parochial role. The function of the clergy was solely to offer up perpetual prayers for the souls of Sir Alexander and Lady Home, their family and forebears. The collegiate church was in use for around a century before the Protestant Reformation of 1560 sealed its fate.
