Rolls Royce Reflection
One of the lighter sides to singing with a choir is the occasional wedding we are asked to do. We are paid, but it's peanuts compared to the time it actually takes. The wedding this morning was held in the chapel at Berkhamsted School, which is impressive architecturally but not good for acoustics. It's easy to please most people with a few hymns sung lustily and the 'Cantique de Jean Racine', which we can do on virtually no rehearsal.
These weddings are always entertaining as we are not emotionally involved - just there to do a job - so we can observe the nuances missed by most. I would have liked to get a close-up of the grooms brown shoes, black trousers and bright turquoise socks! Bright pink would have matched the bridesmaids dresses! A couple of chapel shots added as extras.
Afterwards, when we left the chapel, the two large Rolls Royce cars, complete with chauffeurs, were waiting to take the bridal groups off to the reception. I noticed the reflection of one car in the back of the other and the chauffeur was amenable to posing in the right spot for the photograph.
So for once I am getting my blip done before midnight!
