Round peg in a round hole
This newly-built green oak porch fronting the entrance to one of the older cottages in the village displays an older and, to my mind, superior way of building using traditional techniques and locally sourced timbers. The roof is stone flagged. An excellent job and one which is functional and aesthetically pleasing. Traditionally, the flags would have been secured by oak dowels onto battens. Persimmon eat your heart out.
